A review of Ashland’s own Harvey’s Place
We embarked upon this culinary experience with our appetizers. The smell of a creamy artichoke dip came to us before the dish even landed on the table. Following shortly after came a beautiful bronze baked brie with a hazelnut honey butter, cristinis, and sliced apples, finished with a balsamic reduction. Both of these starters teased our appetite, and filled us with immense anticipation for the rest of the meal.
6 ounces of searing hot certified angus beef Filet Mignon, topped with Rogue Creamery bleu cheese butter, is what called us to Harvey’s Place in downtown Ashland. This elegant dish, paired with a cabernet sauvignon wine melted away our cares. The scrumptious experience continued with a lightly breaded chicken piccata, topped with a lemon cream sauce, which absolutely melted in the mouth. The sustainably caught King Salmon with a sweet and tangy honey-garlic glaze that was simply to die for.
After we had devoured our entrees, this is where our escapade took a turn towards a heart attack in sundae form. The triple chocolate ice cream is not for the faint of heart; and one should likely consult a doctor before consumption. With a soft brownie base, vanilla creme anglaise, Reeses candy, triple chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, Heath candy, and chocolate sauce drizzled; it is safe to say that the title triple chocolate ice cream was an understatement, but the only attack worth suffering.
During our first ‘taste of Ashland’ we chose the culinary experience of the local restaurant Harvey’s Place because we had a secret key. Each of our editors tried different dishes from their menu, playfully baiting the talented chef well enough to secure an interview with the incredibly gifted Head Chef, Justin Brim. Chef Justin is not only an amazingly skilled culinarian, he is a valued member of our team. (Which we will cover in our next post, so stay tuned!) maximum spent was $75 with the most expensive and delicious whiskey on menu. The average patron with get away with around a $25 to $30 tab for a stunning night out.
Harvey’s is a mood lit restaurant with an all hollywood serving staff. The staff was friendly and eager to meet our tables’ needs. Our servers name was Becca, with a winning smile and great recommendations, she steered us towards finding heaven in food and wine form. Their bar seemed to have an almost endless alcohol selection, with their Whiskey selection being beyond compare. If you have the means, try the ‘whistle pig old world’ and you will not regret it.
